Friendship is vertical and horizontal; this symbolizes relations with God and  man. If we miss the vertical part of friendship we will also miss the horizontal part.  In our quest for friendship we will not get friendship right if we do not have solid interaction with God.

Any friendship that cannot further us into Life is not called friendship in the Spirit. Someone who knows all about us but does not further our vertical relationship (which is with God) is not a friend. Any friend that is always tilting us away from that which is common among the people of God is not a friend. When someone talks about a brother spitefully we should be quick to run away from such a friend even before such start talking about people in authority because friendship is meant to be unto Life!
